NeuroQ Review 2026
James BevanUpdated October 23, 2026
NeuroQ Extra Strength is sold as the stronger version of neurologist Dale Bredesen's memory formula, backed by a trial where 97% of people improved. But is it really stronger? And did that trial test it? We checked all 6 ingredients against the studies, looked up the brand's trials in their registry, and read what reviewers and Amazon buyers say.

What's good, and what isn't
Pros
- Ginkgo (120 mg, the EGb 761 standardization) reaches the amount its studies used
- Amazon buyers rate it 4.4 out of 5 across 464 ratings on LifeSeasons' own listing
Cons
- Extra Strength has the same amounts as the regular formula, and the brand's trials tested that regular formula, not this one
- Phosphatidylserine is a third of our 300 mg benchmark and huperzine A half of 400 mcg, gotu kola and the coffee extract are 500 mg and 100 mg short, and the refund covers only your first purchase
Why NeuroQ scored 4.9 out of 10
- Dose fit40%53
Ginkgo reaches its studied range. Turmeric reaches its amount as a standard extract rather than the absorbable form the trial used, so it earns half credit. Phosphatidylserine, huperzine A, gotu kola and the coffee extract fall short, by 0.2 mg to 500 mg.
- Evidence30%33
Ginkgo, phosphatidylserine and huperzine A have moderate research, mostly in older adults or people with dementia. Gotu kola and coffee cherry extract rest on a few small trials, and no trial of Extra Strength has been published.
- Transparency20%90
The Supplement Facts panel prints every amount, extract ratio and standardization. The product page's own ingredient list still shows the regular formula's propolis instead of huperzine A.
- Testing10%0
The product page says every batch is third-party tested, but there's no lab report, named program or batch lookup, and NeuroQ isn't listed by NSF or Informed Sport.

We checked the label, compared each dose with the human research and published the review.
Most people looking at Extra Strength want to know two things, whether it's stronger than regular NeuroQ and whether the trial the brand quotes applies to it. The answer to both is no, and that shapes the 4.9. The five ingredients the two versions share come in identical amounts, and the brand's trials tested the regular formula. What does hold up is the ginkgo, 120 mg of the EGb 761 strength, which earns full credit.
The rest earns part credit at best. Phosphatidylserine comes in at a third of our 300 mg benchmark and huperzine A at half of 400 mcg, so both lose points. Turmeric matches its amount, but as an ordinary extract rather than the more absorbable form its trial used, which halves its credit. The coffee extract and gotu kola fall 100 mg and 500 mg short, and that's a long way off for gotu kola. Verification scores zero too, because the product page promises "3rd-party tested every batch" and we couldn't find a lab report or NSF listing to back it up.
The claims, checked

The Supplement Facts panel lists two capsules a serving and 30 servings in a 60-capsule bottle, and all six amounts match our records.2 The rest of the capsule is hypromellose, silica, rice bran and ascorbyl palmitate, and the directions are two capsules every morning with food.1 The only caffeine is the trace in the coffee extract, the brand calls the product stimulant-free, and the label says it's gluten-free.2
If you're allergic to bee products, there's one thing to know. Extra Strength's panel has no propolis, but the product page's own ingredient list still shows 75 mg of it, so go by the label on the bottle.12
“Extra Strength is Memory & Focus at full potency”
Doesn't hold up“The same complete formula that was clinically tested”
Doesn't hold upThis is how the product page describes Extra Strength.1 The brand's research page points to a 2020 Japanese trial of a combination of propolis, ginkgo, phosphatidylserine and curcumin, which isn't the Extra Strength formula.4 The newer trial is registered as testing "NeuroQ" in 40 people over 60 days, while the brand's page gives 80 people. It finished in July 2024 with no results posted,64 and our PubMed search found no published paper on any NeuroQ product.8
“97% of participants saw improvement”
UnverifiedThe product page attributes this figure to a double-blind, placebo-controlled trial, and its footnote calls it "a company-sponsored 90-day clinical study."1 The registered placebo-controlled trial ran 60 days, not 90, and its results haven't been posted or published,68 so we can't check the percentage. That trial didn't test Extra Strength either.
You'd think a claim like that would need proof before it went on a bottle. The Better Business Bureau asked LifeSeasons in 2024 to "substantiate, modify, or discontinue" some of its advertising claims, and its profile says the company hasn't done so. The profile doesn't say which claims.31
“All six ingredients above. Every milligram on the label.”
Doesn't hold upThe six-ingredient list on Extra Strength's product page ends with 75 mg of bee propolis and doesn't mention huperzine A.1 In the same page's photos, the Supplement Facts panel lists 200 mcg of huperzine A and no propolis.2 The page's list describes regular NeuroQ, so we used the panel, which is what's printed on the bottle.
“3rd-party tested every batch”
UnverifiedThis promise appears on the product page,1 but we couldn't find a lab report, testing program or batch lookup to back it, and searches of both neuroq.com and lifeseasons.com for a certificate, lab report or lot number come back empty. LifeSeasons' About page says each ingredient "is tested three times" in-house, for identity, heavy metals and potency, though it publishes no results.39 NeuroQ isn't in NSF's supplement listings, NSF Certified for Sport, or the Informed Sport and Informed Choice registries either.93738
“Try NeuroQ for 60 days. If it's not right for you, for any reason, send it back.”

leaf extract, 24% flavone glycosides, 6% terpene lactones · Moderate evidence
Doses used in studies that showed a benefit
NeuroQ Memory & Focus Extra Strength has 120 mg, the lowest daily dose used in studies that showed a benefit.33
Study dose benchmark from Le Bars 1997, 120 mg a day, 52 weeks33
Ginkgo provides 120 mg of leaf extract with 24 percent flavone glycosides and 6 percent terpene lactones, the strength of EGb 761. That puts it at the bottom of its research range, the amount a year-long 1997 trial in people with dementia used,33 while the clearest result came from twice that, 240 mg a day, also in people with dementia.14 In healthy people, though, a 2012 analysis of trials found no effect on memory, attention or executive function,15 so how much it helps depends on who's taking it.
source not stated · Moderate evidence
Doses used in studies that showed a benefit
NeuroQ Memory & Focus Extra Strength has 100 mg. The study dose we use as this ingredient's benchmark is 300 mg, so it's 200 mg short.16
Study dose benchmark from Crook 1991, 100 mg three times a day, 12 weeks16
Phosphatidylserine supplies 100 mg, a third of the 300 mg we use as the benchmark, and the label doesn't say where it comes from. That benchmark comes from the clearest result, 300 mg a day of a cow-brain extract that's no longer sold.16 A 2010 trial of soy-based phosphatidylserine at 100 mg or 300 mg is less encouraging than it first looks. Scores rose in every group, placebo included, and only people who started with low scores improved against their own starting point while the placebo group stayed level.17
from Huperzia serrata whole herb extract · Moderate evidence
Doses used in studies that showed a benefit
NeuroQ Memory & Focus Extra Strength has 0.2 mg. The study dose we use as this ingredient's benchmark is 0.4 mg, so it's 0.2 mg short.34
Study dose benchmark from Xu 1995, 0.2 mg twice a day, 8 weeks34
Huperzine A is the ingredient that makes this the Extra Strength version, at 200 mcg. That's half the 400 mcg a day we use as the benchmark, which comes from a 1995 dementia trial.34 The bigger, more modern trial is a mixed picture, since 210 people with Alzheimer's saw no change at 200 mcg twice a day, and at 400 mcg twice a day a secondary analysis found a gain at 11 weeks that had faded by week 16.20 In a 2012 trial, 78 people with vascular dementia scored better on three scales after 100 mcg twice a day,22 while a 2013 analysis of 20 trials rated most at high risk of bias.21 In healthy adults, the two single-dose trials we found showed no clear gain. One gave 100 or 200 mcg in a US Army study,35 the other 200 mcg to 15 exercise-trained adults,36 and we found no trial of daily use.
turmeric rhizome extract 250 mg at 95% curcuminoids, not a bioavailability-enhanced form · Moderate evidence
Doses used in studies that showed a benefit
NeuroQ Memory & Focus Extra Strength has 237 mg, inside the 180 mg to 1,500 mg used in studies that showed a benefit, but the label doesn't confirm the form or extract those studies tested, so it earns half credit.12
Study dose benchmark from Small 2018, 90 mg curcumin twice a day, 18 months12
Turmeric supplies 250 mg of rhizome extract with 95 percent curcuminoids, or 237 mg. The trial behind our comparison range used Theracurmin, a form made to absorb better, and at 90 mg of curcumin twice a day for 18 months it improved memory in 40 adults aged 51 to 84.12 Ordinary curcumin is poorly absorbed, so NeuroQ's 237 mg isn't equivalent. A 2025 analysis of nine trials found an effect only with treatment lasting 24 weeks or more, in people over 60 or in Asian participants, and put the best amount at 800 mg a day.13
labelled coffee bean extract, under 3 mg caffeine · Preliminary evidence
Doses used in studies that showed a benefit
NeuroQ Memory & Focus Extra Strength has 100 mg. The study dose we use as this ingredient's benchmark is 200 mg, so it's 100 mg short.18
Study dose benchmark from Robinson 2024, 200 mg18
Coffee extract comes in at 100 mg with under 3 mg of caffeine, and the label calls it coffee bean extract, whereas the trials used whole coffee cherry extract made from the fruit. The clearest of them used 200 mg, 100 mg more than NeuroQ, and found better accuracy on working-memory tasks,18 and a 2020 trial in 71 adults with mild memory decline found faster reaction times over 28 days.19 The extract's maker funded both studies.
aerial extract 4:1 · Preliminary evidence
Doses used in studies that showed a benefit
NeuroQ Memory & Focus Extra Strength has 250 mg. The study dose we use as this ingredient's benchmark is 750 mg, so it's 500 mg short.10
Study dose benchmark from Wattanathorn 2008, 750 mg a day, 2 months10
Gotu kola provides 250 mg of a 4:1 aerial extract, 500 mg less than the amount that helped in the trial behind our range. In that study, 28 healthy older adults took 250, 500 or 750 mg daily for two months, and only 750 mg improved working memory.10 A 2017 analysis of five trials of gotu kola alone found no significant effect on any area of thinking, although alertness and mood scores improved.11
We can compare all six ingredients with the research because NeuroQ prints every amount and how strong each extract is, which plenty of memory supplements don't. The coffee wording is the one muddle, since Extra Strength's label says bean extract while the regular label puts coffee fruit extract and bean extract on the same line.23

The products that share the most cognitive ingredients with NeuroQ Memory & Focus Extra Strength are shown first. Any product sharing at least two can be added.
BrainPill is the closest match on ingredients, with ginkgo, phosphatidylserine and huperzine A at $2.33 a serving, though its ginkgo and huperzine A amounts are below the studies. Transparent Labs Cognition costs $1.67 and shares phosphatidylserine at 140 mg and huperzine A at 300 mcg, adding citicoline, rhodiola and 100 mg of caffeine.
If you'd rather skip caffeine and huperzine A, Mind Lab Pro costs $2.30 and pairs 100 mg of phosphatidylserine with 250 mg of citicoline. NeuroQ's real case is ginkgo at its study amount with only a trace of caffeine, but if you want more of the ingredients at the amounts studied, Cognition and Mind Lab Pro both get you there for less a serving.
Prevagen is the other memory supplement people weigh against NeuroQ. It relies on a single ingredient, apoaequorin, and in 2024 a jury in the FTC's case against its maker found its memory claims unsupported.32
Price and where to buy
One bottle of Extra Strength from neuroq.com cost $79.95 when we checked, or $2.67 a serving, with free standard shipping in the US.1 The three- and six-bottle packs and the subscriptions bring the cost a serving down, and the subscriptions can be cancelled by phone. LifeSeasons also sells it through its own Amazon store and on Walmart.730
There's a quirk worth knowing before you choose. A single bottle of regular NeuroQ costs more than Extra Strength, but regular is the cheaper of the two in the bundles and on the three- and six-month subscriptions.3 If you don't want the huperzine A, the regular formula in a bundle is the lower-cost way to get the same five shared amounts.

What studied amounts cost separately
This section compares NeuroQ with buying each of its ingredients on its own, one bottle per ingredient, at the dose the studies started from. We've chosen each bottle for quality rather than the lowest price. Ginkgo is the one ingredient where NeuroQ already matches the studies.
Gotu kola 750 mg
No pick. The best single we've audited scores 5.4, and we only pick at 6.0 or above.
Ginkgo 120 mg
1 capsule of 120 mg
Coffee fruit extract 200 mg
No pick. None of the brands we buy from sells coffee fruit extract, and the trials used whole coffee cherry extract (NeuroFactor), not the coffee bean extract on NeuroQ's label.
Phosphatidylserine 300 mg
3 capsules of 100 mg
Curcumin 180 mg
400 mg Longvida (its studied dose)

NeuroQ Memory & Focus Extra Strength at neuroq.com

Buying the other four separately saves $0.70 a day ($20.97 for 30 servings).
Coffee extract has no pick. None of the brands we buy from sells coffee fruit extract, and the trials used whole coffee cherry extract (NeuroFactor) while NeuroQ's label says coffee bean extract, so coffee isn't in the total. Gotu kola is left out too, because no single gotu kola product we've audited reaches the 6.0 rating we require of a pick. The list has the current cost a day for the other four.

“NeuroQ presents itself as a promising cognitive support supplement, but it falls short for many users who were expecting more noticeable benefits.”
Most published reviews cover regular NeuroQ with propolis. SOMA Analytics was the only one we found to name Extra Strength's huperzine A, and it reports taking Extra Strength for 30 days, with "a slight elevation in my concentration" in the second week.23 The same review also reports testing the original version, describes the coffee extract as 100 mg of caffeine, and links every buy button to a different product.
Illuminate Labs reviews regular NeuroQ, counts three ingredients as effectively dosed and doesn't currently recommend it.24 Athletic Insight reports eight weeks of use, gives it 6.5 out of 10 and calls the 100 mg of phosphatidylserine underdosed against 300 mg,25 the same benchmark we use. Consumer Health Digest and Wellness Digest each give it 3.8 out of 5.2627 Some reviews misstate the basics, as Wellness Digest and Total Shape describe a 90-day guarantee.2728 On YouTube, Jordan Liles reads the regular version's label and advises viewers to see a doctor before ordering.29

Safety notes
Huperzine A is the ingredient to check with your doctor. It blocks the enzyme that breaks down acetylcholine, the same way some prescription dementia drugs work, and its research comes from dementia trials,20 so don't combine it with those drugs or another huperzine A product without asking. If you take a blood thinner, mention the ginkgo and turmeric too.
If you're buying this for a parent with diagnosed memory problems, their doctor should see the label first. Ask a doctor before taking it if you're pregnant, breastfeeding or have a health condition. We're researchers, not doctors.
Final thoughts
NeuroQ Extra Strength gives you ginkgo at its study amount, smaller amounts of phosphatidylserine and huperzine A, and every amount printed. What it isn't is stronger than regular NeuroQ in anything the two share, and the brand's trials tested the regular version anyway, while the coffee extract and gotu kola sit 100 mg and 500 mg short of their studies.
If the huperzine A is what you want and your doctor is happy with it, one bottle under the 60-day refund is a fair way to try it. If it isn't, regular NeuroQ in a bundle costs less for the same shared amounts, and Mind Lab Pro or Cognition put more of their ingredients at the amounts studied. Take it with breakfast, and give it a couple of months before judging it.
