Qualia Mind Review 2026
James BevanUpdated October 23, 2026
Qualia Mind is one of the best-known premium brain supplements, with 31 ingredients in a six-capsule serving. But are that many ingredients there in amounts that matter, and is it worth the price? To find out, we've compared every amount with the published research, checked the company's own studies, and read what expert reviewers and buyers have to say.

What's good, and what isn't
Pros
- Rhodiola (370 mg), theanine (200 mg), caffeine (100 mg) and lutein with zeaxanthin (12 mg) are within the doses used in studies that showed a benefit
- A 100-day refund on your first bottle, opened or not, with Amazon orders refunded through Amazon
- Buyers rate it 4.4 out of 5 across 302 ratings
Cons
- Citicoline is 50 mg, 200 mg short of the dose we use as the benchmark, and six other ingredients fall short too, phosphatidylserine and alpha-GPC among them
- Its one registered placebo-controlled trial, of the old formula in 60 adults, finished in 2020 with no results in the registry or a journal
- $7.95 a serving from the brand's site, with 100 mg of caffeine in six capsules
Why Qualia Mind scored 4.8 out of 10 in our scientific audit
- Dose fit40%38
Four of the 13 ingredients with a studied range reach the dose we use as the benchmark. Ginkgo and saffron reach theirs in extracts that don't match the trials, so they earn half credit. Acetyl-L-carnitine, tyrosine, lion's mane, alpha-GPC, phosphatidylserine, citicoline and PQQ fall short, by 10 mg to about 1,800 mg, and five more have no studied range on file, so they earn nothing for dose.
- Evidence30%31
Evidence only counts in full when the dose matches the studies. Seven of the ranged ingredients are under their studies and five have no range, which earn only the minimum, so most of the label adds little to this bar.
- Transparency20%85
Every one of the 31 amounts is printed, and there are no blends hiding amounts. It falls short of 100 because the saffron and polygala give no extract strength, and because we read the label from the brand's site, not from a bottle we bought.
- Testing10%70
Qualia's certificate page claims independent third-party testing for purity, potency, heavy metals and microbes, produced by HydroScience Custom Formulations. The reports are only reachable with a lot number from a bottle, we found no public listing for that lab, and the product isn't listed by NSF.

Score history
Oct 23, 2026 First audit published
We checked the label, compared each dose with the human research and published the review.
If you're weighing Qualia Mind, the question is whether 31 printed amounts in six capsules justify $7.95 a serving. The score says mostly not. Only four of the 13 ingredients we can compare with the research reach the amounts that showed a benefit in full, and they're the familiar ones, rhodiola, theanine, caffeine and lutein. Ginkgo and saffron reach their amounts in extracts that don't match the trials, so they earn half credit. Seven fall 10 mg to about 1,800 mg short of the studies, and another five have no research range on file, so they earn nothing for dose and only the minimum for evidence.
To be fair to Qualia, a label this long with every amount printed is rare, and that's why the transparency bar stays high. We'd raise the score for fewer ingredients at the amounts the studies used. A lab report anyone can open would help too, but Qualia's lot-number lookup only works if you already have a bottle.
The claims, checked

The official supplement facts panel matches every amount in our records, including the extract strengths and branded forms, with lutein and zeaxanthin recorded together as one row.1 Six capsules make a serving and the bottle holds 120, so you get 20 servings. The product page calls the formula vegan, non-GMO and gluten free. The other ingredients are hypromellose, rice flour, L-leucine, calcium silicate and silica.
The directions say to take it early in the morning, five days on and two days off. On that schedule a bottle lasts four weeks.
“Qualia Mind contains nootropic compounds that have been studied in placebo-controlled trials for supporting cognitive performance.”
PartlyThe product page makes this claim.1 The ingredients have been studied, but only four of the 13 we can compare with the research reach the amounts the studies used in full, and five more have no research range on file.
The product itself has been registered for one placebo-controlled test, a randomized, double-blind crossover trial in 60 healthy adults with thinking measured after five days, which finished in September 2020.6 No results have been posted to the registry, and a PubMed search finds no paper about it.7 It also used the old formula, so it wouldn't tell you about today's bottle.
The brand also promotes a 2022 Alzheimer's pilot in which Qualia Mind was one part of a personalized program for 25 patients.49 Its own page on that study says "it is not possible to isolate the contribution, if any, of each of the interventions to the overall results."50
“a 60% increase from the beginning scores”
PartlyIn the company's pre-launch study of the current formula,4 38 people took it for two five-day periods and rated themselves on a 10-question scale. Scores rose from 47.9 to 76.5.
There was no placebo group, and the company's own note says the results "are not statistically significant and the study was not placebo-controlled." A separate four-week pilot used EEG headphones to measure focus in three young men, also without a placebo.5
“independent 3rd party testing results for purity, potency, heavy metals, and microbial safety”
PartlyQualia's certificate page makes this promise and names HydroScience Custom Formulations as the producer of the reports.3 A report exists for each production run, but you need a lot number from a bottle you've bought to open one, so we haven't seen a report.
We couldn't find a public listing for a lab with that name, and Qualia Mind doesn't appear in NSF's listings.10 A lookup that buyers can use still earns part of the testing credit, the same as Mind Lab Pro's.
“Feel 100% Satisfied within 100 days or get a 100% refund.”
Holds upThe refund policy offers this, with limits.2 You're covered for one unit of each product per household, with extra units and later orders excluded, and Amazon handles refunds for orders placed there. Unopened orders can also be returned within 100 days. One bottle lasts about four weeks on the five-days-on schedule, though, while some of the slower ingredients were studied for six months.
“4.52 | 3130 Reviews”
PartlyThe product page shows that figure at the top, but the same 4.52 from 3,130 appears on the Caffeine Free and bundle pages too, so it isn't Qualia Mind's own figure.1 Qualia Mind's own review section further down shows 4.46 from 2,368. Both come from reviews collected by the brand.
Retail listings give the independent figures. Qualia's four Amazon listings average 4.3 out of 5 across 255 ratings,89 and iHerb shows 4.7 from 47,55 which together make the 4.4 from 302 ratings we show as the buyer rating.
What's inside, audited
18 ingredients checked, 4 within range, 7 short, 2 above the range or at half credit, 5 with no studied range.
Within range (rhodiola, L-theanine, caffeine, lutein and zeaxanthin). Short (acetyl-L-carnitine, L-tyrosine, alpha-GPC, citicoline, PQQ, phosphatidylserine, lion's mane). Above the range or at half credit (ginkgo, saffron). No studied range (Nutricog, taurine, polygala, celastrus, Sabroxy).
3% rosavins, 1% salidrosides · Moderate evidence
Doses used in studies that showed a benefit
Qualia Mind has 370 mg, inside the 170 mg to 680 mg used in studies that showed a benefit.48
Study dose benchmark from Darbinyan 2000, 170 mg a day, 2 weeks48
Rhodiola is the strongest part of this label at 370 mg of a root extract with 3 percent rosavins and 1 percent salidroside, the kind used in the trials. Our benchmark is 170 mg a day, from a two-week trial in 56 physicians on night duty that improved fatigue scores.48 A 20-day study of 100 mg in 40 students during exams reported less mental fatigue.11 A single dose of the same extract reduced fatigue in 161 military cadets,12 and 576 mg a day for four weeks helped 60 adults with stress-related fatigue.13 Qualia's 370 mg sits comfortably inside that range.
Moderate evidence
Doses used in studies that showed a benefit
Qualia Mind has 200 mg, between the 100 mg single dose and the 400 mg a day used in studies that showed a benefit.52
Study dose benchmark from Dassanayake 2023, One dose of 100, 200 or 400 mg52
Theanine comes in at 200 mg, the amount used in most of its research, including a 2026 analysis of 31 randomized trials that found faster choice reaction time after a single 200 mg dose.14 In a four-week trial of 30 adults on 200 mg a day, verbal fluency and executive function scores rose, but only verbal fluency, in the people who started lowest, beat placebo.15
Coffeeberry® + guarana + anhydrous · Strong evidence
Doses used in studies that showed a benefit
Qualia Mind has 100 mg, between the 40 and 300 mg single doses used in studies that showed a benefit.16
Study dose benchmark from McLellan 2016, about 40 to 300 mg a dose, across the trials it reviews16
Caffeine totals 100 mg a serving from coffee fruit, guarana and plain caffeine, inside the 40 to 300 mg range where research reviews find reliable improvements in attention and alertness.16 That's about a cup of coffee.
stigma extract, no brand or standardization on the label · Moderate evidence
Doses used in studies that showed a benefit
Qualia Mind has 30 mg, the highest daily dose used in studies that showed a benefit, but the label doesn't confirm the form or extract those studies tested, so it earns half credit.18
Study dose benchmark from Lopresti 2025, 28 mg a day, 12 weeks18
Saffron provides 30 mg of a stigma extract, but the label doesn't name the extract or say how strong it is. A 2021 trial gave healthy adults with low mood and stress 30 mg a day of a standardized extract for eight weeks.19 A 2025 trial gave 202 adults with low mood 28 mg a day of affron, a branded extract, for 12 weeks and found better depression scores than placebo.18 Our range starts at that 28 mg. Saffron extracts aren't interchangeable, so an unnamed one earns half credit, and both trials measured mood rather than focus or memory.
sunflower lecithin · Moderate evidence
Doses used in studies that showed a benefit
Qualia Mind has 100 mg. The study dose we use as this ingredient's benchmark is 300 mg, so it's 200 mg short.22
Study dose benchmark from Crook 1991, 100 mg three times a day, 12 weeks22
Phosphatidylserine supplies 100 mg from sunflower lecithin, a third of the 300 mg we use as the benchmark. That figure comes from the clearest result, 300 mg a day of a cow-brain extract that's no longer sold.22 A 2010 trial of soy-based phosphatidylserine at 100 mg or 300 mg found scores rose in every group, placebo included. Only people who started with low scores improved against their own starting point while the placebo group's stayed level.23
24% glycosides · Moderate evidence
Doses used in studies that showed a benefit
Qualia Mind has 120 mg, the lowest daily dose used in studies that showed a benefit, but the label doesn't confirm the form or extract those studies tested, so it earns half credit.47
Study dose benchmark from Le Bars 1997, 120 mg a day, 52 weeks47
Ginkgo provides 120 mg of an extract with 24 percent glycosides, which matches our 120 mg benchmark, but the label doesn't print the 6 percent terpene figure the trials' extract also carried, so it earns half credit. The clearest trial used 240 mg a day in people with dementia.20 Healthy people are a different story, as a 2012 analysis of trials found no effect on memory, attention or executive function.21
Cognizin® · Preliminary evidence
Doses used in studies that showed a benefit
Qualia Mind has 50 mg. The study dose we use as this ingredient's benchmark is 250 mg, so it's 200 mg short.24
Study dose benchmark from McGlade 2012, 250 or 500 mg a day, 28 days24
Citicoline is the gap reviewers point to. It's Cognizin, the branded form used in the trials, but there's only 50 mg, 200 mg less than the 250 mg that showed a benefit in a four-week trial of 60 women aged 40 to 60.24 The better-known trial in teenage boys pooled its 250 mg and 500 mg groups,25 and the clearest adult result came from 500 mg a day for 12 weeks in 100 people aged 50 to 85, though that trial's main memory measure didn't beat placebo and the gain came on a secondary test.26 Against those, 50 mg is a token amount.
HCl · Moderate evidence
Doses used in studies that showed a benefit
Qualia Mind has 500 mg. The study dose we use as this ingredient's benchmark is 1,500 mg, so it's 1,000 mg short.53
Study dose benchmark from Yang 2018, 500 mg three times a day, 28 weeks53
Acetyl-L-carnitine provides 500 mg against 1,500 to 3,000 mg a day in studies lasting three months or more in people with mild cognitive impairment or early Alzheimer's disease.27 A Cochrane review of 11 trials in Alzheimer's found an improvement in doctors' overall impressions, but no evidence of a benefit for cognition itself.28 We found no trial in healthy adults.
N-Acetyl-L-Tyrosine · Moderate evidence
Doses used in studies that showed a benefit
Qualia Mind has about 203 mg (250 mg N-acetyl L-tyrosine on the label). The study dose we use as this ingredient's benchmark is 2,000 mg, so it's 1,797 mg short.54
Study dose benchmark from Colzato 2013, 2,000 mg, single dose54
Tyrosine comes as 250 mg of N-acetyl-L-tyrosine, which supplies about 203 mg of tyrosine, and that's what we count. In a 1999 study, people took 150 mg per kilogram of body weight, about 10 g for an average adult, and had better working memory during multitasking.29 More wasn't always better, though, as a 2017 study in older adults found slightly worse working memory after single doses of 100 to 200 mg per kilogram.30
RealLionsMane™ 8:1 organic extract · Preliminary evidence
Doses used in studies that showed a benefit
Qualia Mind has 125 mg. The study dose we use as this ingredient's benchmark is 1,800 mg, so it's 1,675 mg short.31
Study dose benchmark from Docherty 2023, 1.8 g, one dose and then 28 days31
Lion's mane provides 125 mg of an 8:1 extract, while the trials gave whole fruiting body in grams. In a 28-day trial, 41 young adults took 1,800 mg a day, with little benefit beyond a faster Stroop test after the first dose.31 The trial that did find a benefit gave 30 adults aged 50 to 80 with mild cognitive impairment tablets with about 2,880 mg of fruiting body powder a day for 16 weeks.32 An 8:1 extract is concentrated, but we couldn't find a trial showing that 125 mg of it matches those amounts.
Alpha-GPC comes in at 115 mg. A 2024 trial in 20 healthy men found that single doses of 315 mg and 630 mg improved Stroop test scores an hour later,33 and longer trials used 1,200 mg a day in people with Alzheimer's.34 Qualia's 115 mg is 200 mg below the 315 mg we use as the benchmark.
Lutemax® Brain (10 mg lutein + 2 mg zeaxanthin) · Moderate evidence
Doses used in studies that showed a benefit
Qualia Mind has 12 mg, the lowest daily dose used in studies that showed a benefit.36
Study dose benchmark from Lopresti 2022, 10 mg lutein and 2 mg zeaxanthin a day, 6 months36
Lutein and zeaxanthin total 12 mg, 10 mg of lutein and 2 mg of zeaxanthin, which is where our research range starts. A 2022 trial used exactly that combination for six months in 90 adults aged 40 to 75 with memory complaints and found better visual memory and learning than placebo, with no change on the other tests.36 A 2019 trial in 59 young adults used 13 mg or 27 mg a day, also for six months.35 Both trials measured the effect after six months.
PQQ provides 10 mg against the 20 mg a day used for 12 weeks in the trials. One of them found an improvement on one attention test in 41 older adults,37 and the other found better memory scores in adults aged 20 to 65.38 Both had researchers from the ingredient's maker among the authors.
Also on the label are Nutricog 300 mg, taurine 200 mg, polygala 100 mg, celastrus 90 mg, Sabroxy 50 mg. We have no verified human dose range on file for these, so they stay in the formula count, earn nothing for dose and only a small fixed credit for evidence, which lowers the score.
Also on the label are vitamin C 45 mg, vitamin D 15 mcg, vitamin B1 2.5 mg, vitamin B2 2 mg, vitamin B3 16 mg, vitamin B6 2 mg, folate 333 mcg, vitamin B12 100 mcg, biotin 30 mcg, vitamin B5 5 mg, magnesium 84 mg, boron 3 mg. These have no cognitive dose range for people who aren't deficient, so they don't count toward the formula score.
Nutricog, taurine, polygala, celastrus and Sabroxy are the other five without a research range on file, so they earn nothing for dose and only a small fixed credit for evidence. The product page describes Nutricog as "a clinically studied combination" of two Ayurvedic herbs,1 and the celastrus research we found was in animals.40
The 12 vitamins and minerals range from 20 percent of the Daily Value for magnesium to 4,167 percent for B12, and boron has no Daily Value. B vitamins haven't been shown to help memory if you aren't low in them.39

The products that share the most cognitive ingredients with Qualia Mind are shown first. Any product sharing at least two can be added.
Transparent Labs Cognition is the closest caffeinated match, at $1.67 a serving. It has 600 mg of rhodiola, 250 mg of citicoline, 140 mg of phosphatidylserine and 100 mg each of theanine and caffeine, all but the phosphatidylserine at amounts used in the studies. You'd give up Qualia's extra theanine and its long tail of smaller ingredients, and get five times the citicoline for a fraction of the price.
Mind Lab Pro costs $2.30 a serving with no caffeine and shares citicoline, lion's mane, phosphatidylserine, tyrosine, theanine and rhodiola with Qualia Mind. You get 250 mg of citicoline against Qualia's 50 mg, while Qualia has more rhodiola and theanine. If you like the idea of Qualia but not the caffeine, Qualia also sells a Caffeine Free version at the same price.
Qualia's case is breadth and a long guarantee. If you want the ingredients with the strongest research at the amounts the studies used, products with fewer ingredients give you that for much less.
Price and where to buy
A one-time bottle from qualialife.com cost $159.00 when we checked, or $7.95 a serving.1 Standard shipping adds "$8.98" on a one-bottle US order, by the brand's own shipping page.51 The subscription offers "75% off your first shipment" and then "$20.00 off each shipment afterwards," which brings the price a serving down but still leaves it among the most expensive formulas we've audited.
The brand's own Amazon store sells it too, and it cost less there than a one-time order on the brand's site when we checked.

That's 13 bottles, one for each ingredient with a research range, each chosen for quality rather than the lowest price. Qualia already reaches the studies on rhodiola, theanine, caffeine and lutein, and ginkgo and saffron reach theirs in extracts that don't match the trials.

“Qualia Mind tries hard to be your best option but ultimately doesn’t live up to its full potential as a nootropic.”
Most reviews from people who took the current six-capsule version were positive, though serving size or price came up in nearly all of them. SOMA Analytics gives no score and calls it "a decent nootropic," while preferring NooCube "with a much slicker formula."41 After 30 days, Lift Big Eat Big rated it 4.1 out of 5 and called the 50 mg of citicoline "the most notable under-dose in the formula."42
The mindbodygreen editor felt little at three capsules and a clear difference at six over two weeks.43 Your Inception's video takes a similar view and reports little change from the old version.44 Two well-known reviews still describe the old seven-capsule bottle, Innerbody with an Editor's Rating of 3.10 and no stated scale, and WholisticResearch with 4.5 out of 5.4546
What buyers report
Safety notes
A serving has 100 mg of caffeine from three sources. With two mugs of coffee you're at about 290 mg, close to the 400 mg a day that safety reviews treat as a reasonable ceiling for healthy adults.17 Take it in the morning, and don't stack it with another caffeinated product.
Six capsules give you a lot of plant extracts at once, and no published study covers this exact combination. Mention the ginkgo and caffeine to your doctor if you take medication, and ask a doctor first if you're pregnant or breastfeeding, or have a health condition. If you take levodopa for Parkinson's disease, ask your doctor before taking Qualia Mind, because citicoline's prescription label warns that the two interact, as our citicoline guide explains. We're researchers, not doctors.
Final thoughts
Qualia Mind's label tells you every one of its 31 amounts, which few long formulas do, but only four reach the amounts the studies used in full, rhodiola and theanine among them. Most of the rest are small next to the research, citicoline most of all, and the registered placebo-controlled trial of the old formula has no results in the registry or a journal.
If you want one bottle that covers a lot of ground and you'll use the 100-day guarantee to find out, Qualia Mind is a reasonable thing to try. If you'd rather pay for amounts that match the studies, Cognition or separate bottles get you there for much less. Either way, take it in the morning, five days on and two off, and count its 100 mg of caffeine alongside your coffee.
