Top Rated Nootropics is an independent supplement review site at topratednootropics.com. This page explains what information we collect when you use the site, why we collect it, and what you can do about it. Top Rated Nootropics is responsible for that information, which data protection law calls being the data controller.

What we collect

We collect as little as we can and still run the site properly.

Analytics, outside the EEA and UK. For visitors outside the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, including the United States, we use Google Analytics 4 to see how the site is used. It records the pages you visit, how you arrived, your rough location at country or city level, the type of device and browser you use, and the links and buttons you click, including clicks on links to retailers. It doesn't give us your name, your email address or anything that tells us who you are.

No analytics in the EEA and UK. If you visit from the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, analytics is switched off for your visit. Google Analytics sets no cookies for you and sends us no analytics about your visit, and we don't show a cookie banner because there's nothing to agree to.

Email signups. If you sign up for email updates, we store your email address, the place on the site where you signed up, and your browser's user agent, which is the short technical description of your browser and device that every browser sends.

Messages you send us. If you email us, we keep your message and your email address so we can reply, and so we can keep a record of any correction you reported.

Server logs. Our hosting provider keeps standard logs of requests to the site, including IP addresses, to keep the site secure and working.

We don't have user accounts, we don't ask for health information, and we don't run advertising that follows you around other websites.

Cookies

For visitors outside the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, Google Analytics sets two cookies whose names start with "_ga". They let it tell one visit from another and can last up to two years unless you clear them. Visitors in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom get no analytics cookies. We don't set any advertising cookies of our own.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and Google offers a browser add-on that turns off Google Analytics on every site you visit. The site works the same either way.

Links to retailers

Many of our reviews link to a brand's own store or to Amazon. When you click one of those links, the retailer or its affiliate network can set its own cookies so it can credit us if you buy something. From that point, the retailer's privacy policy applies, not ours.

The affiliate programs we belong to report clicks, orders and commissions to us. They don't give us your name or contact details. Our affiliate disclosure explains how these links work and how we keep commissions away from scores.

How we use what we collect

We use it to understand which pages readers find useful, to find and fix problems, to see which reviews lead readers to a retailer, to send the emails you asked for, and to reply to your messages and corrections.

We don't sell your personal information, and we don't use it for targeted advertising.

Who else handles it

A few service providers handle information for us so the site can run. Google processes the analytics data for visitors outside the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, our hosting provider serves the site and keeps its logs, and our database provider stores email signups. They handle it only to provide their service to us. We would also disclose information if the law required it.

How long we keep it

We keep your email address until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. Analytics data is kept under the retention settings of Google Analytics, and server logs under our hosting provider's standard terms. We keep correction emails as long as we need them to show where a change to a page came from.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it or delete it, or unsubscribe from our emails at any time.

We're setting up the address for these requests, and it will appear on this page as soon as it's live.

If you're in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, data protection law gives you the right to access, correct, delete and move your data, and to object to how we use it. We don't run analytics on your visits, and we rely on your consent for email updates. You can also complain to the UK's Information Commissioner's Office, or to the data protection authority where you live.

If you live in a US state with its own privacy law, such as California, you have the right to know what we collect, to ask us to delete it, and to opt out of its sale or use for targeted advertising. We don't do either of those, and we'll answer any request you send us.

Children

The site is written for adults. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18, and if we learn that we have, we'll delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we collect or use information, we'll update this page and its updated date. If a change is significant, we'll say so on this page when it happens.
